Spring into Sales: 5 Strategies to Renew Your Sales Team

Take a Talent Assessment

As the snow melts away and new life begins to blossom, take the time to breathe new life into your sales team.  Review each member and the talents they bring to the team.  Would their talents be better used in another position?  Are they lacking necessary skills and/or talents?  How are your Superstars impacting the team?  What about your weakest links?

Reorganize and Retool

Now that you have done your assessment, it is time for a little spring cleaning.  Spring cleaning does not mean sprinkling your staff with pink slips like drops from a spring shower.  Spring cleaning is about reorganizing your staff based on their talents, retooling existing members who need to develop skill sets and finding new employees to fill in the holes.

Recruit

Birds of a feather, tend to flock together.  Ask your top performing team members to introduce you to their friends who might be looking for an opportunity.  Host a spring social and encourage your staff to invite their friends.  Build this network to help feed your pipeline when you need to add to your staff.

Use the Bundle Method

Plants the seeds for success.  When you hire new staff members, couple their hiring with immediate and effective training.  You can reduce turnover and increase profits, if you provide your staff with the tools for success.  Also lay out immediately the goal and expectations for the job, including any rewards for exceeding the goals and expectations.  Get them motivated for success right away.
