Domestic Auto Sales Regain Market Share

Large declines in auto sales for overseas car makers has shifted sales staffs to more profitable domestic dealers, leaving an employment gap for import dealers to fill.  Automotive Recruiting Companies like The Manus Group, shifts focus to meet current demand for salespeople.

A recent report by the American International Automobile Dealers Association indicated a six percent decline in overall import sales, presumably caused by a slump in Japanese supply chains during their struggle to recover from the earthquake and tsunami in March. At the same time, Autoremarketing.com reports a nearly ten percent increase in overall sales for domestic automakers. Popular opinions predict that Japanese inventory levels may not return to healthy levels until early next year, giving domestic lines an opportunity to regain market share to levels not seen since the 1960’s. According to the Detroit Free Press, General Motors has already begun exploiting that opportunity by launching a campaign aimed at positioning itself as a leading global brand, rivaling top companies like Apple, Google and Coca-cola.

It seems the ripple effect from the tragic events in Japan have even effected where American automotive salespeople have chosen to work. The recent shift in market share to domestic products has auto dealers noticing a move by their salespeople to look for more lucrative opportunities at dealerships with the highest sales volumes. As a result, more and more import dealers are experiencing a sudden employment drop in their sales forces.
